1912

1912 is a photographic/sculptural installation exploring cellular and generational continuity and the intimacy and distances of family. Imagery is drawn from my last film exposures of my grandmother, born in 1912, and from fragmentary self-portraits: "macro-landscapes" that together encompass a time-span of more than a century.

The installation consists of floor to ceiling (12'-30' high) photo printed silk panels, and nests made of silk fragments interwoven with hair: my own, and strands offered by friends from the San Francisco photo community.

Presented at the Reynolds Gallery in Stockton, CA, January 2015.
